Alleged rapist remains in city jail
No bond yet set
A man accused of two rapes and the false imprisonment of one of the alleged victims remains in the Eunice jail with no bond yet set.
Stephan Miles Bergeron, 20, of 2041 West Park is charged with forcible rape, aggravated rape and false imprisonment.
He was listed as among the jail’s prisoners on Tuesday
Bergeron was arrested in May after investigation of a complaint by a woman who alleged her rape occurred during the Christmas-New Year’s period.
He has appeared for lineup in district court in Opelousas and is being held pending application for bond.
That application would have to be filed by his attorney.
There is no record in the parish criminal court system to indicate whether he has an attorney, either private or court-appointed.
The proceedings against him are sealed by order of Judge Alonzo Harris, which is standard procedure in rape cases as the state strives to safeguard the identity and privacy of alleged victims.
At the time of his arrest, police said a woman visiting friends in Eunice was allegedly assaulted by Bergeron and held prisoner.
She did not file a complaint at the time, choosing instead to return to Tennessee.
Police said she told family there about the incident and was encouraged to contact Eunice authorities, who began an investigation.
Officers said as that probe continued, other names were developed as possible victims.
The other rape charge is based on the allegation by one of the women that she was raped by Bergeron on Aug. 30, 2005.

I can assure you that when the private investigators working on Mr. Bergeron's behalf complete their investigations that these "women" will be squirming like trapped mice on the whitness stand. It seems that in the City of Eunice, are as I like to refer to it, "The Hiding place Of Deceit", a person is guilty until proven innocent. Well let's watch this play out. These so called "women" have a past and I can assure you it will not only be Mr. Bergeron's dirty laundry hanging out to dry. These so called "women" better start thinking about how they are going to answer the questions that cannot be denied. "Tis better to sit quietly and appear as a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt"!
