Bengals grab weekend sweep over Northlake
LSUE improves to 5-0 on season
The LSU Eunice baseball Bengals completed a three-game sweep of North Lake Community College from Irving, Texas with a 12-1 win on Sunday.
Mitchell Hopkins (2-0) earned the win going four innings, allowing one hit while striking out four. Hopkins allowed no runs and no walks.
After Hopkins, five different Bengal pitchers combined to allow one unearned run in the scheduled nine inning game.
At the plate, five different Bengals collected multiple hits led by Eldred Barnett fwho went 3-for-3 with a triple, an RBI, and two runs scored.
Others collecting multiple hits were Jacob Fisher went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple, and two runs scored, Truman Van Veckhoven went 2-for-2 with and RBI and a run scored, and Brook Boudreaux went 2-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI’s.
LSU Eunice won both games of a doubleheader Saturday against Northlake.
The Bengals won the first game by a score of 11-0. Chance Mistric (2-0) earned the win pitching four innings, allowing one hit and no runs while walking one batter and striking out four.
Dane Amedee pitched three innings in relief of Mistric allowing two hits and no runs while also walking one and striking out four.
Offensively, the Bengals had five hitters collect multiple hits, including Les Aulds and Zach Kirksey who each hit a homerun in the game. Aulds tallied four RBI’s.
The Bengals won game two by a 14-3 score.
Tony Dischler (1-0) earned the victory pitching four innings, allowing three hits and an unearned run while striking out five batters.
Raph Rhymes led the way offensively going 3-for-4 with a triple, a homerun, and six RBI’s.
Up next for the Bengals (5-0) is a three-game weekend series with St. Charles Community College from Cottleville, MO. starting at 6 p.m. Friday.
