Macie Brown, second from right, will be among Saintsations in that Super Bowl number Sunday.

When the Saints go marching onto the Super Bowl field in Miami Sunday, one Acadiana woman will be with them every step of the way.
Breaux Bridge native Macie Borel Brown is a member of the New Orleans Saintsations, the official cheerleading team for the New Orleans Saints.
Macie excelled in the three areas of competition last April to win a position on the prestigious team. In addition to advanced dance technical skills, applicants were judged by area professionals in one-on-one interviews, and tested on football fundamentals. The final round of competition included on the spot question and answer and public speaking skills.
Macie is currently attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where she is studying business management with a minor in dance. She is a graduate of Teurlings Catholic High School where she was a member of the competition dance team for four years.
She has attended Liz Trahan’s School of Dance in Cecilia for 21 years and is experienced in jazz, tap, hip hop, and lyrical. She has also choreographed competition routines for numerous junior High and high school cheerleading squads and dance teams.
She has received a variety of awards including studio dancer of the year and in 2004 received third place at the National Dance Team Championship with her high school dance team in Orlando, Fla. on ESPN. She is employed as a teacher and choreographer at Liz Trahan’s School of Dance and has been teaching dance for more then six years.
In addition to performing at NFL Saints home football games, the Saintsations have traveled to Iraq and Afghanistan to visit our troops. Team members recently returned from a week-long NFL promotional trip to Mexico.
The team has appeared on the Dr. Phil show, and Comic Relief Live National Television show with Whoopi Goldberg, Robin Williams and Billy Crystal. They have also appeared in Sports Illustrated, Maxim magazine, FHM magazine and several national commercials. Team members have competed in the NFL nationally televised Cheerleading championship, appeared in events surrounding the NFL Super Bowl and competed against other NFL cheerleading teams at the Super Bowl Beach challenge. Last season, the entire team was featured at the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio as well as the London regular season game in October.
The Saintsations support community projects through the “Saintsations Inspiration Program.” The primary focus of the program is to promote positive initiatives geared toward women and children. They have worked hand-in-hand with Angel’s Place in New Orleans. This non-profit organization provides care and comfort for terminally ill children. They also work with over 700 young girls in their Junior Saintsation program.
The Saintsations are one of the premier dance teams in the NFL. Incorporating high-energy routines with professionalism, this elite group has earned the reputation of being one of the most versatile and entertaining squads in the league. Their annual New Orleans Saintsations Swimsuit Calendar and the “behind-the-scenes” television shows about the making of the calendar have catapulted the team into regional celebrities. Recently Fox Sports completed a one hour special on the team which will air in South and Central America.
According to team manager Lesslee Fitzmorris, “the Saintsations are influential role models to the youth. We look for young women who are committed to leading a healthy, productive lifestyle both on and off the field. Macie is a true representative of the youth and talent in the New Orleans area. We are proud to have her as a member of the 2009-2010 team.”
The Saintsations are scheduled to appear on Fox and Friends, the CBS Early Show, the Bill O’Reilly show and make numerous appearances. On Super Bowl Sunday, the team will perform at pregame. They will be one step away from the action on game day, cheering the New Orleans Saints in their first Super Bowl game.
Macie is married to Timothy Brown. She is the daughter of Gerald and Cindy Borel of Breaux Bridge.
