The Eunice Courir de Mardi Gras will take place although on a smaller scale than previous years, Captain Pat Frey said.
Frey confirmed the run following a number of Mardi Gras event cancellations.
The downtown Eunice Mardi Gras celebration is officially canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The decision was announced at Tuesday’s Board of Aldermen meeting.
Mardi Gras is on Feb. 16.
No decision has been made about holding the Mardi Gras in downtown Eunice, but the Courir de Mardi Gras is planned.

Given a weather forecast for 80% chance of rain on Monday, it looks like this year will be another wet Mardi Gras.
Pat Frey, Le Vieux Mardi Gras de Cajun capitaine, said, “We think it is always wet for Mardi Gras.”
Barricades were in place by Tuesday in downtown Eunice as the Mardi Gras season approached.
And, Wednesday night’s Taster’s Choice fundraiser at LSUE kicked off the Mardi Gras season in Eunice.
The Le Vieux Mardi Gras De Cajuns is scheduled for Mardi Gras with registration at the Northwest Community Center in Eunice from 6 to 8 a.m.
The Eunice Mardi Gras celebration schedule has been released.
Festival music line up is scheduled for downtown Eunice beginning Feb. 21 and continues through Feb. 25 — Mardi Gras.
The Mardi Gras is “looking good” said Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot.
“We are just praying for some good weather, but rain or shine it is going to go on,” he said.
The mayor said he isn’t worried about the crowds showing up.
The Mardi Gras party in Eunice went by relatively free of any serious crime, Police Chief Randy Fontenot said.
