The following are from the January 1999 files of The Eunice News.
Commissioner Dale Sittig, of Eunice, was elected chairman of the Louisiana Public Service Commission.
Gayle Keller, a native of Eunice, was to appear on an episode of CBS’s “As the World Turns.” Keller is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reginald Keller.
Lindsy Brown and London Dodd, of Eunice High, were named All-American Cheerleaders by the NCA. They were to perform in the Aloha Bowl in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Iota varsity cheerleaders were Erin Cart, Adrienne Miller, Erica Brown, Meghan Boudreaux, Gretchen LaCombe, Darren Miller, Robin Hebert, Laney Bellon and Lauren Fontenot.
Social Studies Fair winners at Highland Elementary were Rhoeyce Dupre, Evan Fontenot, Travis Huckaby, Gretchen Dietz, Stefan Frey, Kim Soileau, Kaitlin Thibodeaux and Brittany Lewis. The students were to compete in the parish fair.
