The following are from the December files of The Eunice News.
Hubert “Kutch” Rougeau was elected president of the Eunice Chamber of Commerce. Other officers were Mrs. Myrtle McManus, first vice president; and Ray Kron, second vice president. The outgoing president was Yvonne Tujague.
The Eunice High School Booster Cloub named a committee to work toward a new stadium. Committee members were Mrs. Bernice Broussard, Mrs. T.J. LeBouef, Allen Ortego, T.J. LeBouef, Roland “Red” Prudhomme, Donald J. Bush, Jerry Hoffpauir, Lindsey J. “Red” Aucoin, Barry Soileau and Doris Eldred.
Sammy and Joey Prudhomme, sons of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Prudhomme, were presented an award from the Eunice Bobcat Booster Club for their help with a barbecue.
Jason Huckaby, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Huckaby, of Eunice, won the DAR Good Citizenship Contest at St. Edmund High School.
Sharon Ky Fruge, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Fruge won the DAR Good Citizenship Contest at Eunice High School.
Three St. Edmund players were named to the District 10-A team. The players were John Fruge, Jeffery Hebert and Jay Breaux.
Central Elementary Student Council officers were Rex Ashworth, secretary; Raymond Burney, parliamentarian; John Allemond, treasurer; Sammy Lavergene, president; and Edward Francois, vice president.
