Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laure Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

Cooks needed for Tasters Choice
Cooks are needed for the Eunice Community Health Center’s seventh annual Tasters Choice scheduled Feb. 22.
The event is a fundraiser for the Eunice Community Health Center, which provides free health care to people who work, but are unable to pay for their care.

Jazz Concert at Liberty set Jan. 25
The LSUE Performing Arts Series presents the Rondi Charleston Jazz Band Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Liberty Theater in Eunice.
Box office opens at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $2/student, $4 general admission.
Entertainment Tonight recently named Rondi Charleston as “An Artist You Should Watch.”

Rotary requests nominees for Citizen of the Year
The Eunice Rotary Club is accepting nominations for the 2016 Citizen of the Year Award, which recognizes a Eunice citizen who has shown extraordinary community spirit and given outstanding service to the community during 2016.
Service for other years may be considered in determining an award-winner.
Nominations must be in writing and must be received on or before 11 a.m. Feb. 1. Nominations should be mailed to John Pucheu, Citizen of the Year Committee, P.O. Box 1109, Eunice, LA 70535.

ELTL spring registration set Jan. 23-27
Registration for the Eunice Ladies Tennis League (ELTL) spring season begins Monday, Jan. 23 and concludes, Friday, Jan. 27. Registration sign-up in person is at the Mayor’s Office in Eunice City Hall between 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Or, One may call Ann at 337-363-9121 and leave a message.
Registration fee is $25, payable by check only made out to ELTL, and includes 12-weeks of league play, tennis balls and an end-of-season banquet.
Women 18-years or older with a good knowledge of the sport, including tennis court etiquette and keeping score, are eligible to join. ELTL includes all levels of play. Matches are played on every Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. at the Eunice Fairgrounds Tennis complex.

Players’ Theater presents Irving Awards
The annual Irving Awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, Jan. 28 at the Liberty Theater located at 200 Park Avenue in Eunice.
All season ticket holds are invited to attend and are asked to bring your invitation for a chance to win a free season ticket for the 2017 season. Cocktail hour (with a cash only bar) will be from 6 to 7 p.m. with the awards beginning at 7 p.m.
After the awards there will be a social hour at the Liberty with the cash bar open.

Right to Life March set Jan. 22
The annual Right To Life march will be held Sunday, Jan. 22 at noon at N. Second St. at Picou’s Drugs and conclude at the Liberty Theater.
A National Right To Life leader will be speaking inside the Liberty.
The public is invited to attend.

Mardi Gras ball at Church Point
The Church Point Community Development Corporation plans its first-ever Church Point Mardi Gras Ball at 7 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Church Point Community Center.
The corporation is a nonprofit organization that develops community projects based on a foundation of sharing, maintained through participation and enjoyed fellowship.
The corporation is focusing their efforts on initiating downtown revitalization projects, hosting functions and events to celebrate the uniqueness and rich culture of Church Point, creating public and private partnerships to facilitate improvements, increasing opportunities for youth development and community engagement, and helping to promote and enhance Le Parc Du Vieux Depot and Le Vieux Presbytere Museum.

launches ‘Business and Breakfast’
The B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette has launched a “Business & Breakfast” program, which offers businesses the opportunity to recruit and interact directly with business students at the College.
The program, in turn, enables students to network with – and learn more about – the visiting company.
As the exclusive host for the morning, the visiting company provides breakfast for the students, while the College provides setup and all promotions. For businesses seeking to meet with specific types of students, targeted partnerships with student organizations and majors are available.

ABC Men’s Retreat set for Feb. 24-25
The Acadian Baptist Center near Richard will host a Men’s Retreat on Feb. 24-25.
The speaker will be Dr. Gevan Spinney. Dr. Spinney is the pastor of First Baptist Church of Haughton, and is currently serving as the president of the Louisiana Baptist Convention.
Music will be provided by Chad Boudreaux of First Baptist Church of Crowley.
Cost for this event is $55, including meals and lodging; $35 for commuters, including meals.

Saturday program at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center
Saturday programs at the Prairie Acadian Cultural Center, 250 W. Park Ave., Eunice, are the Explore & Restore craft workshop for kids, from 10 a.m. to noon; Cajun Conversations meets 1 to 2:30 p.m. to learn and practice conversational Cajun French; Music and dancing kicks off at 2:45 p.m. and ends with the cooking demonstration and sampling at 4 p.m. Admission to the center and programs is free.

VFW bingo held Thursdays, Sundays
The VFW Post 8971 holds bingo for the public at 7 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday at the VFW Hall located on U.S. 190 East. All proceeds from Bingo games goes back to the community.
