Nominees sought for Rotary award
The Eunice Rotary Club is seeking nominations for the 2017 Eunice Administrative Professional of the Year.
The winner will receive a free trip to Branson, Missouri, courtesy of KEUN Radio, $500 spending money from the Rotary Club, a plaque and a flower arrangement.
Nomination letters should be mailed to the Pucheu Law Office at 106 West Park Ave, Eunice, LA 70535, Attn: Admin Asst Day.
The deadline for nominations is April 21.
The Rotary Club’s 30th Annual Luncheon will be held at noon April 26 at noon at the St. Thomas More Church Hall.
Tickets are $15 each. For tickets, call 457-1776.
Tickets need to be purchased by April 25.

Pre-kindergarten registration dates set
All Eunice public schools will be have pre-kindergarten sign-up now through May 18 from 9 to 11 a.m.
Children must be 4 years old by Sept. 30 in order to qualify for the pre-K program.

WC Read Fire BBQ sale set April 23
The WC Read Fire department will have a BBQ fundraiser pork dinners on sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 23.
Pick up at fire station. Dinners are $8 each.

OLLI French Table Friday topics
The LSUE OLLI French Table discussion group meets every Friday in the LSUE Continuing Education building, Room 117, at 9 a.m.
There will be no April 14 meeting.
The next meeting will be set for April 21.

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laure Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.

Fundraiser for scholarship fund
The 12th annual motorcycle ride to benefit the Delores Stanberry Education and Scholarship is scheduled April 29 at 11244 Highway 190, near Miller’s Zydeco Hall of Fame Club, Lawtell.
Registration is from 10:45 a.m. to noon and the police escorted ride begins at noon.
Entry fee is $10 per bike and $15 with passenger.
BBQ sandwiches, pork stew and tripe will be available.
All proceeds are for education and scholarships. The scholarship was formed by Anthony Standberry, District 1 School Board member, in honor of his mother.

EHS annual tennis tourney set May 5-7
The third annual Eunice High tennis tournament is set for May 5 - May 7.
Matches will be played at Eunice Fairgrounds and LSUE courts. Entry fee is $60 doubles team, must be 18 years or older. Ladies doubles, mens doubles and mixed doubles will be offered.

Miss Eunice Pageant set for May 13
Junior Auxiliary of Eunice will present the 71st annual Miss Eunice/Miss Teen Eunice Pageant, at 6 p.m. May 13 at Eunice High School.
Registration for the pageant is $50 and due by April 13. Packets can be picked up and returned to Gossip, Tattletales, and Vogue la Vie.
Miss Teen Eunice age group is 13-15; Miss Eunice is 16-19 years of age.
Applicants must be a resident of Eunice.

Kindergarten registration dates set
Registration at Highland Elementary for 2017-2018 kindergarten students will be April 25 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the school’s cafeteria.
Parents need to bring your child’s original birth certificate, updated shot record, and proof of residence (example: current utility bill showing name and address). If these documents are not presented, the student cannot be registered at this time, no exceptions; however, an alternate date will be scheduled, to be announced, for late registration.
Check with the local health unit for updated shot record and birth certificate information.
Kindergarten registration dates will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. at the schools listed below for Kindergarten Only:
— Highland Elementary- April 25
— Eunice Elementary- April 26
— East Elementary- April 27
— Glendale Elementary- April 28.

ABC women’s retreat set April 21-22
Acadian Baptist Center near Richard will host its annual women’s retreat April 21 and April 22.
The retreat will be led by Kathy Nelson, author, speaker, and bible teacher at Speak It Ministries.
During the retreat women will learn how to find contentment by experiencing God’s presence in their lives.
Katy James of Ridgeland, Mississippi will lead ladies in worship. In addition, break-out sessions covering topics of interest to women will be offered.

St. Jude Trail Ride set for April 22
The 14th annual St. Jude Trail Ride will be held Saturday, April 22 in Washington, 3375 Faubourg Road, beginning at 8:30 a.m.
There is a $15 fee for the ride which includes lunch. The will be a St. Jude auction at lunch time.

Summer Fun Camp at Jean Lafitte set
The Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve’s Prairie Acadian Cultural Center in Eunice will accept applications for Camp Bonjour, a week long camp for kids ages 6-8, and 9-12.
Children can participate in summer day camps:
Ages 9-12, July 10-14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. $50 fee.
Ages 6-8, July 17-21, from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. $30 fee.
Registration is limited to 20 campers per session.
