Rotary golf tourney set for Aug. 12
The Eunice Rotary Club will hold a golf tournament Aug. 12 at Koasati Pines at Coushatta Casino in Kinder.
The cost is $100 per player or $400 a team.
All proceeds goes to the Eunice Community Health Center.
Registration and payment deadline is Aug. 10.
Sign-up is at 7 a.m. with the shotgun start set for 8:30 a.m.
There will be awards for all three flights and all participants will receive a golf voucher.

EHS Band barbecue sale set Aug. 12
The Eunice High Band boosters will have a barbecue hamburger and sausage poboy sale at Cajun Harley-Davidson on the I-10 Service Road in Scotton from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 12.
Proceeds will go towards maintenance/repair of instruments and uniforms, in addition to any other costs for the upcoming football season.

Airborne anniversary at Historic Camp Claiborne
The public is invited to attend the 75th anniversary of the activation of the 82nd and 101st Airborne divisions at Historic Camp Claiborne at 10 a.m. Aug. 14.
The site is at the La. 111 and 165, Forest Hill and is hosted by Kisatchie National Forest, Fort Bragg, Fort Campbell and Fort Polk.
Attendees are asked to arrive by 9:30 a.m. for parking and shuttle service. Tents, bottled water and cooling fans will be provided.

BBQ dinners at True Vine Church Thursday, Aug. 3
True Vine Church, locted at 200 S. Martin Luther King Drive will have a BBQ pork dinner with all trimmings sale today from 11 a.m. on.

Parents Reachout host Back to School
The Parents Reachout Club will host its annual Back To School Funday on Saturday at the Southeast Neighborhood Center in Eunice from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
There will be school back packs with supplies, giveaways, food and games, face painting, fun jumps, etc. The NAUW will give away school uniformas.

United Way school supply drive planned
The St. Landry-Evangeline United Way will hold a school supply drive through Friday.
Drop-off will be from from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at KBON, 109 S. 2nd St., Eunice; 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Opelousas at the St. Landry-Evangeline United Way office, located at 311 W. Vine St.; and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Ville Platte City Hall.
Needed items include backpacks, calculators, pencils, pens, crayons, markers, art and craft supplies, copy paper, construction paper, glue sticks, tape, notebooks, rulers, scissors, three-ring binders, folders, paper towels, hand sanitizer and Kleenex. Gift cards are also appreciated.

EPT presents ‘Red, White & Tuna’
Eunice Player’s Theatre will present “Red, White and Tuna” beginning Thursday.
The presentation, by Jaston Williams, Joe Sears, and Ed Howard will be Friday, Saturay and Sunday.
The play is directed by Ching Wasmuth and will star Dr. Kevin Miller and Van Reed.
Evening performances begin at 7 p.m., and Sunday performance begin at 2 p.m.

ELTL fall registration Aug. 14-Aug. 25
Registration for the Eunice Ladies Tennis League (ELTL) fall season begins Monday, Aug. 14 and will conclude on Friday, Aug. 25. 
One may sign-up in person at the Mayor’s Office in Eunice City Hall between 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
Participants can call Ann at 337-363-9121 and leave a message. The fee is $25, payable by check only made out to ELTL, and includes 12 weeks of league play, tennis balls and an end-of-season banquet.
Women 18 years or older with a good knowledge of the sport, including tennis court etiquette and keeping score, are eligible to join. 
ELTL includes all levels of play. Matches are played on Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. at the Eunice Fairgrounds Tennis Complex. First date of play is Sept. 5. Players will be notified by your team captain prior to that date.

CFMA scholarship to be awarded
The CFMA (Cajun French Music Association) Acadiana Charter Chapter will award a $500 scholarship beginning in the fall semester ($250 per semester). Applicants need to write a 500-word essay telling why they should be awarded a scholarship and what they know about the Cajun Culture, and why it is important to keep the present generation involved in the culture.
A transcript of grades from last school attended and proof of enrollment for the fall semester is required.

Amateur boxing show in Crowley
CROWLEY — The Crowley Boxing Club will host the seventh annual Mayor Greg Jones Invitational Amateur Boxing Show at the International Rice Festival Building, 717 W. Mill St. in Crowley, bat 2 p.m. Aug. 26.
Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for teens ages 13-17, $5 for children ages 7-12 and free for children 6 and under. Reserved tables (nine seats) $150.

Boy Scout Troop 425 recruitment drive
The Boy Scout Troop 425 is conducting a recruiting drive for boys interested in joining Scouting.
The age group being targeted for recruitment are boys aged 11 through 13. Boy Scout Troop 425 is based in Eunice and is sponsored by VFW Post 8971, also in Eunice.

Rendez-Vous De Cajuns at Liberty
The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every Saturday from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with live entertainment.

The Greater True Light Baptist Church in Eunnice will celebrate its 16th year Annual Male Chorus Musical at 6 p.m. Aug. 19.
On Sunday, Aug. 20 at 8:30 a.m. service the church will have its 19th annual Brotherhood Men’s Day Service.
