‘It’s In Your Hands’ Fun Day set Aug. 19
Leaders Building Leaders will hold a Family Fun Day, “It’s In Your Hands,” from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday at the Southeast Center in Eunice.
The event is free and the public is invited. There will be guest speakers for all ages groups, numerous health vendors, a noon dinner, live music, games, activities, crafts, water slides, and much more.
The center is located at 101 City Avenue, in Eunice.

The entertainment scheduled for Coushatta Casino Resort’s Mikko Live includes:
7 p.m., Thursday, Backyard Boys.
9 p.m., Friday, FlameThrowers.
9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, FlameThrowers.

Airborne anniversary at Camp Claiborne
The public is invited to attend the 75th anniversary of the activation of the 82nd and 101st Airborne divisions at Historic Camp Claiborne at 10 a.m. Monday.
The site is at the La. 111 and 165, Forest Hill and is hosted by Kisatchie National Forest, Fort Bragg, Fort Campbell and Fort Polk.
Attendees are asked to arrive by 9:30 a.m. for parking and shuttle service. Tents, bottled water and cooling fans will be provided.

Bulb & Blossom club meeting Monday
The Bulb and Blossom Garden Club will have a social from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Monday.
A meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at the residence of Lynn Pavich. All members are asked to attend and membership is welcomed to anyone interested.

ELTL fall registration
Registration for the Eunice Ladies Tennis League (ELTL) fall season begins Monday and will conclude on Aug. 25. 
One may sign-up in person at the Mayor’s Office in Eunice City Hall between 8:30 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.
Participants can call Ann at 337-363-9121 and leave a message. The fee is $25, payable by check only made out to ELTL, and includes 12 weeks of league play, tennis balls and an end-of-season banquet.
Women 18 years or older with a good knowledge of the sport, including tennis court etiquette and keeping score, are eligible to join. 
ELTL includes all levels of play. Matches are played on Tuesday evenings at 6 p.m. at the Eunice Fairgrounds Tennis Complex. First date of play is Sept. 5. Players will be notified by your team captain prior to that date.

Fall & Winter Gardening symposium
A symposium on Fall and Winter Gardening will be held from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Aug. 24 at the LSUE Continuing Education Building, Room 117.
All who are interested in vegetable gardening, are invited to attend this free symposium. LSU Extension Agent Jeremy Hebert will talk about planting, fertilizing, mulching, pest control and general maintenance. One may bring pictures or plants to ask questions about a certain problems.
Choices for your garden, no matter the size, can be a wonderful and nutritious addition to your meals, It does not take much room to grow your favorite vegetables like: Beets, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Garlic, Kale, Lettuce, Radish, and Spinach. Hebert can explain how to garden successsfully in containers.

Amateur boxing show in Crowley
CROWLEY — The Crowley Boxing Club will host the seventh annual Mayor Greg Jones Invitational Amateur Boxing Show at the International Rice Festival Building, 717 W. Mill St. in Crowley, at 2 p.m. Aug. 26.
Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for teens ages 13-17, $5 for children ages 7-12 and free for children 6 and under. Reserved tables (nine seats) $150.

Annual Gospel Fest set for Sept. 9
The annual Gospel Fest will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Basile Town Park.
The public is invited to attend. There will be music provided by Will Stevens, Word Ministries Praise Team, Bobby & Billy Johnson, Eight31, and Hunter Foreman. Testimonies will also be given. There will also be BBQ, drinks, funnel cakes, snow cones, and popcorn sold during the event.

Boy Scout Troop 425 recruitment drive
The Boy Scout Troop 425 is conducting a recruiting drive for boys interested in joining Scouting.
The age group being targeted for recruitment are boys aged 11 through 13. Boy Scout Troop 425 is based in Eunice and is sponsored by VFW Post 8971, also in Eunice.

Rendez-Vous De Cajuns at Liberty
The Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler Au Rendez-Vous De Cajuns is scheduled at the Liberty every Saturday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with live entertainment.
The Liberty opens at 4 p.m. the show begins at 6 p.m.

Greater True Light Chorus Saturday
The Greater True Light Baptist Church in Eunnice will celebrate its 16th year Annual Male Chorus Musical at 6 p.m. Aug. 19.
On Sunday, Aug. 20 at 8:30 a.m. service the church will have its 19th annual Brotherhood Men’s Day Service.
The public is invited. The church is located at 341 Anne St. in Eunice.

Free child car seat installation
Free installation of child car safety seats is being offered from 4 to 6 p.m. every Monday at Word Ministries, 1960 W. Laurel Ave., Eunice.
The seats will be installed by a nationally certified technicians.
