Parish president candidates file campaign finance reports

The two candidates for St. Landry Parish president, Jessie Bellard and Dwain Buller, have filed campaign finance reports with the Louisiana Board of Ethics that show combined they raised $55,628.83 and have spent 33,121.13.
The reports are required for 30 days prior to the election. The election is scheduled March 20.
Bellard, of the 700 block of Landreneau Road, Eunice, qualified as a Democrat.
Buller, of the 100 block of George Buller Road, Bunkie, qualified as a Republican.
The election is to fill the unexpired term of former president Bill Fontenot, who resigned citing health issues in August 2020.
Early Voting begins March 6 and ends March 13. Early voting locations will be at the Registrar of Voters office, 118 S. Court St., Suite 114, and Eunice City Hall, 300 S. 2nd St, Eunice. Early voting hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day with the exception of Sunday.
The next full parish president term will be decided in the fall 2023 election.
Jessie Bellard
Bellard’s report was filed on Feb. 17. It lists his campaign treasurer as Brandie Bellard and campaign chairperson as Brittany Barron.
Bellard reports total receipts of $38,178.09. Contributions total $28,327.45 and in-kind contributions of $12,850.11. Disbursements total $19,018.83. Funds on hand are listed at $6,303.
