Sittig taking LOOP post
PSC successor will be appointed until April election
Posted September 5th, 2008
Public Service Commissioner Dale Sittig of Eunice is resigning to become executive director of the La. Offshore Oil Port.
His office will be in Lafayette. He will commute.
Sittig said Gov. Bobby Jindal will appoint a successor to serve until an election next April to fill Sittig’s unexpired term. It ends on Dec. 31, 2010.
Sittig said he views the LOOP post as an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.
“The people of this district have been good to me as a Public Service Commissioner and a state representative,” he said, but he viewed the LOOP post as an unique opportunity.
The post pays $101,000 a year. The PSC pay is $45,000.
Sittig said the change will be effective as early as Sept. 15, as late as Oct. 1.

Darn. Was hoping he'd "retire" and become Mayor for the next go-round. :D
Good for him. He's one of the good guys.
