St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Eunice served as the setting for the double-ring, nuptial mass ceremony uniting Elizabeth Ashley Fontenot and Michael Wayne Fontenot, Jr. in holy matrimony. The ceremony was held on June 14 at 7 p.m.
Parents of the bride are Hubert Fontenot of Eunice and Juanita Fontenot of Eunice. Parents of the groom are Michael and Rita Fontenot of Eunice.
Officiating the ceremony was Father Edward Duhon.

The Ceremony
Greeting guests at the church doors were wreaths in the shape of the couple’s initials decorated with pink tipped ivory roses and lavender hydrangeas.
In the back of the church were two large Macho ferns which rested upon ivory columns. Pew markers of ivory roses, stephanotis, ivy, and ivory ribbons lined the aisle. On each side of the altar were two ivory iron rose baskets filled with roses, ferns, lavender hydrangeas, freesia, peonies, wisteria, and gladiolas, the bride’s birth month flower. The unity candle was accented with silk flowers, ivy, and pearls. It was lit by the mothers of the couple.
Vocalists during the ceremony were Arien and David Harper, pianist was Connie Beaugh, trumpeter was Joe Stemplewski.
Program attendants were Aron Prevost of Youngsville, cousin of the bride; and McKenzie Prevost of Youngsville, cousin of the bride.
Readers during the ceremony were Leola Granger of Duralde, aunt of the bride; and Linda Fontenot of Ville Platte, aunt and godmother of the groom.
Gift Bearers were Johnnie and Pat Bihm of Deridder, aunt and uncle of the bride; and Bonnie Prevost of Youngsville, aunt of the bride.
Ushering wedding guests to their appointed seats were Gavin Fontenot of Basile, nephew of the bride; Cole Perry of Eunice, friend of the couple; Case Ricks of Houston, friend of the groom; and Aaron Theriot of Metairie, friend of the groom.

The Bride
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was radiant in a diamond white satin, A-line Maggie Sottero gown accented with a delicate tulle and champagne lace overlay. The gown featured a pearl button closure. The Alencon lace accentuated the portrait neckline and fell asymmetrically from the bodice toward the border lace hem. The sheer back neckline emphasized the exquisite lace. The dress was finished with a semi-cathedral train.
She wore custom designed jewelry of ivory pearls and crystals. Her headpiece was a gold tiara adorned with ivory pearls and crystals with an ivory and silver fingertip, semi-cathedral veil.
The bride carried a Victorian nosegay of ivory freesia symbolizing innocence, ivory roses for love, pale green hydrangeas, pearl jewels, and a locket with the groom’s picture given to her by her mother.
Her something old was part of her deceased aunt’s necklace, something new was her gown, something borrowed was her mother’s pearl rosary, and something blue was a small glass blue bird of happiness from her aunt’s wedding bouquet.

The Attendants
Serving as maid of honor was Candace Perry of Eunice, friend of the bride.
Bridal attendants included Rachel Fontenot of Basile, sister-in-law of the bride; Erica Rozas of Opelousas, friend of the bride; Lauren LeBlanc of Lafayette, friend of the bride; Lisa Feucht of Eunice, friend of the bride; Tiffani Stelly of Eunice, friend of the bride; Alexis Turner of Conway, Arkansas; friend of the bride and Kimberly Fontenot of Eunice, friend of the bride.
Junior bridesmaids were Victoria Fontenot of Basile, niece and godchild of the bride; and Madeline Deshotels of Eunice, niece and godchild of the groom.
The attendants wore Victorian ivory-laced V-neck cap sleeve tops with a dusty lavender silk shantung tea-length A-line skirt with a lavender sash at the waist. They wore matching lavender shoes and chandelier earrings and bracelets, a gift from the bride.
They carried nosegays of ivory roses, lavender alstroemerias, and light green hydrangeas adorned with colored crystal butterflies and dragonflies.
The junior bridesmaids wore ivory silk shantung sleeveless tops with dusty lavender silk shantungs with a tea length A-line skirts and lavender sashes at the waist. They wore matching lavender shoes and pearl and rhinestone earrings and bracelets, gifts from the bride. They carried nosegays of ivory sweetheart roses and lavender alstroemerias with rhinestone picks.
Serving as flower girls were Rachel Fox of Eunice, niece of the groom; Lilian Fontenot of Eunice, cousin and godchild of the bride; and Averi Perry of Eunice, godchild of the bride.
They wore ivory silk shantung tea-length dresses accented with lace overlay and lavender sashes. They chose ivory slippers and ivory pearl and flower headbands.
The girls carried ivory satin baskets adorned with pearl and silk flowers and wore pearl necklaces, earrings, and bracelets, gifts from the bride.
The ring bearer was Gabriel Fontenot of Eunice, cousin of the bride.
He wore a black one button notched tuxedo with a matching ivory pleated shirt, ivory vest and tie, and an ivory rose boutonniere.
Serving as best man was Bobby Hamous of Starkville, Mississippi, friend of the groom.
Groomsmen included Damon Fontenot of Basile, brother of the bride; Nicholas Fontenot of Basile, nephew of the bride; Myles Deshotels of Eunice, nephew of the groom; Ryan Jarosek of Temple, Texas, friend of the groom; Clayton Franke of Manvel, Texas, friend of the groom; Jason Crawford of Warner Robins, Georgia; friend of the groom and Kody Fontenot of Eunice, cousin of the groom.
The groom and groomsmen wore a black one button notched tuxedo with a matching ivory pleated shirt, ivory vest and tie, and an ivory rose boutonniere.

The Mothers
For the special occasion, the mother of the bride chose a formal teal chiffon gown with a portrait neckline, short sleeves, and a shirred off the shoulder bodice with a rhinestone broach and side sash on a drop waist. She wore matching shoes and handbag and pearl and rhinestone jewelry. She also wore a pearl bracelet accented with an orchid at her wrist.
The mother of the groom chose a taupe three piece evening pantsuit with cuffed three-quarter length sleeves and collar, accented with glitter threads. She wore matching shoes and pearl and rhinestone jewelry and a pearl bracelet with an orchid at her wrist.

The Reception
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at St. Thomas More Social Hall.
The porch welcomed guests with hanging ferns, a bistro table and chairs, two potted Areca palms, the chiropractic emblem adhered to both doors, and a banner over the door that read, “ Once in a while right in the middle of an ordinary life love gives us a fairy tale.”
Guests signed in on a beautiful ivory beaded guest book, a gift from the maid of honor, and a pen of braid, pearls, and feathers designed by the bride’s mother all placed on an antique buffet.
A large carved wooden easel held the bride’s portrait and other easels held pictures of the bride when she was three-years old and was a miniature bride in her brother’s wedding.
The guest tables were draped with white and ivory alternating tablecloths and white garden chairs. On each table were lavender and ivory beaded runners and centerpieces of greenery, lavender flowers, wisteria, and candles.
The wedding cake was a three-tiered stacked vanilla buttercream frosted confection decorated with fresh alstroemerias, ivory roses, and greenery topped with a silver plated jeweled initial cake topper. The cake sat on a Victorian silver plateau with ivory pearl garlands scattered around it.
Each attendant’s toasting glass held a twinkling star.
The groom’s cake was a blueberry and strawberry confection featuring a boiling pot of crawfish, corn, and potatoes, a favorite pastime of the groom.
Out-of-town guests traveled from Texas, Arkansas, Mississippi, and Georgia.

Wedding Trip
For their honeymoon, the couple took a week-long trip to Los Cabos, Mexico.
The bride graduated from Eunice High School, LSUE, and completed her studies at Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena, Texas. She is employed at Angleton Chiropractic & Rehab in Angleton, Texas.
The groom graduated from Eunice High School, LSUE, LSU Baton Rouge, LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, and completed his studies at Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena, Texas. He is currently employed at Bayshore Medical Center in Pasadena, Texas.
The couple have made their home in Pearland, Texas.
