Something called Education Savings Account is more than likely on its way to passage in the state legislature in its current session. Under the proposal, parents would be allowed to transfer state Minimum Foundation Program money to a school of their choice — private, parochial and public. The St. Landry Parish School Board approved a resolution opposing the legislation “including House Bill 745 which creates the LA GATOR Scholarship Program, that provides public dollars for private school tuition and educational expenses ...”

Firefighters rescued a man after he fell into a rice bin at North CC Duson and East Vine, according to Eunice Fire Chief Chaise Brown.
The incident occurred at 6:49 p.m. Tuesday.
