Frank 'Pawpaw' Stivison has departed this world after 100 amazing years.
Born in Oakdale, LA. May 21, 1916, he lived through 17 presidents, the end of World War I, the Great Depression, World War II, The Korean Conflict, The Vietnam War and times of boom and bust. Upon graduating from Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette) in 1936 with a degree in engineering, he went to work for Continental Oil Co (Conoco) where he worked 46 years until retiring in 1982. For 76 years he was married to the love of his life, Catherine (Lewis) Stivison of Eunice, LA who passed away January 2015. They brought 4 children into this world - Ralph, Lowell, Cathy, and Lorna. With his big heart and quick smile he left a lasting impression on everyone that ever met him.
Left to cherish his memory are sons Ralph and wife Janice of Houston, Lowell and wife Priscilla of Bedford, TX and daughter Lorna and husband Dale of Arlington, TX. Sisters-in- law Lois Lewis and Rita Manuel of Eunice, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their children and friends far and wide.
A special thanks to Kathy Jones and Jackie Wallace of Jack's Place in Euless, TX for their unwavering support, care and boundless kindness and compassion.
His life will be celebrated Thursday, December 8 at 10a.m. at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Eunice. Visitation will begin at 9a.m. before the service.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Bedford Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, 2121 L. Don Dodson, Bedford, TX 76021.
He will be sorely missed and it sure won't be the same without him but if he were here to console us he'd be quick to flash that smile and tell us in his favorite expression - "that's just the way it is when it's like that."
