EUNICE- It is with heavy hearts that the family of Margie F. Lafleur announces her passing on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at the Acadian Medical Center at the age of 93. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 1 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Hampton Davis, Celebrant.
Maw Maw, Margie, Nana Lu, LuLu…no matter what you called her, she was a special woman. She loved with all her heart and was always dressed to the T when she went anywhere. She loved her family and friends fiercely, but she would tell you what she thought in a heartbeat. She was an amazing cook and caretaker, taking care of so many. She was as tough as nails, overcoming so much, definitely a fighter. She also prayed and prayed hard for anyone and everyone. Margie is now with her husband, her son, her family, and most importantly with her Maker. She was a bookkeeper and worked at Buller Lumber Yard in Ville Platte until retirement. She was also a past member of the Catholic Daughters of Americas. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her, especially her daughter, Phyllis L. Ortego and husband, John Hilliard Ortego of Eunice; grandchildren, Chance Lafleur and wife, Donna, Monique Luckianow and husband, Peter, Jeannie Lafleur, David Lalonde and wife, Lainey, and Cody Lalonde; great grandchildren, Emmie Newcomb, Julieanna Luckianow, Nicholas Luckianow, Ava Lalonde, Brianna Lafleur, and Hunter Lafleur; and extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Winnes Lafleur; son, Winnes Wayne Lafleur; mother, Hattie Miller Fontenot; and sisters, Bonnie Bonin and Ramona Duplechain.
