Betty Davis Doucet

Betty Davis Doucet died on Friday April 11, 2014 at the age of 73.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday April 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Quirk & Son Funeral Home. Associate Pastor Gerard Morgan will officiate. Burial will follow at Langley Cemetery in Basile.
Survivors include her husband, Hershel Doucet of Crowley; two step-daughters, Suzanne Boullion and Suzette Venable; one sister, Bobbie Guillory and her husband Joseph of Eunice; one brother, Gordon Davis of Center, Texas; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Street ministry founder
PRAIRIEVILLE – Services for street ministry coordinator the Rev. Lucious Hargrove, Sr. will be Saturday. He died Tuesday at age 73.
He was pastor of Mt. Gillion Baptist Church for 18 years. He was founder of Parents Against Drugs of Louisiana and organized regional teen conferences.
Survivors include his wife Mary and a daughter.
Arrangements are by Lawson-Rollins Purple Shield.

Obstetrician
THIBODAUX – Services for long-time obstetrician Dr. Donald Crochet will be Saturday. He died April 7 at age 82.
He was a pitcher on the first Nicholls State baseball team and former head of obstetrics at Myrtle Beach, S.C. Air Force Base. He practiced here more than 30 years.
Survivors include his wife Kathryn and five children.
Arrangements are by Landry’s.

DERIDDER – Services for retired U.S. Navy Master Chief and pharmacist Jeff Brooks will be Friday. He died April 6 at age 69.
Survivors include his wife Rose and two children.
Arrangements are by Myers-Colonial.

Hall of Fame wrestler
NEW ORLEANS – The Ultimate Warrior, who Saturday was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame during Wrestlemania XXX week, has died at age 54.
The professional wrestler’s given name was James Brian Hellwig.
Arrangements are pending, according to the WWE website.

NEW ORLEANS – Services for reknowned artist George Dureau are pending. He died at age 83.
His paintings, sculpture and photographs of the human figure in various forms hanging in collections around the world. His painting of Professor Longhair was the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival poster in 1999 and his major public art works include the pediment sculpture for Harrah’s Casino on Canal Street and the gates of the New Orleans Museum of Art.
