Sheriff reports record heroin bust; 4 arrested

A four-week investigation netted a record amount of heroin seized and the arrest of four people on Wednesday, St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz stated in a news release.
Guidroz said the drug bust occurred in three locations in Opelousas and Sunset.
One pound of heroin with a street value of about $45,000, 1.5 pounds of crystal meth with a street value of about $28,000, marijuana, ecstasy pills and fentanyl laced drugs. were seized, Guidroz stated.
Also seized were two semi-automatic guns and about $5,000 in cash, he stated.
Guidroz said the heroin is a record amount seized in St. Landry Parish.
“Corey Mitchell Lanclos, the main subject in this drug case has an extensive criminal history with over 33 arrests since October 2007. In St. Landry Parish alone, he was arrested 13 times for various law violations. His extensive arrest record reflects he was charged with theft, appearing in court in an intoxicated condition, domestic violence, distribution/possession of Schedule 1 narcotics (marijuana), drug paraphernalia, flight from an officer, battery, resisting an officer, theft, parole/probation violations, home invasion, and drug possession charges and fraud in the state of Florida in 2017. His luck ran out last Wednesday when deputies executed three search warrants in three separate locations in St. Landry Parish,” Guidroz stated.
In addition to four adults arrested, Guidroz stated the State Department of Family Services assisted law enforcement officers and took custody of two juveniles that were in the presence of the adults.
The drugs were conducted by St. Landry Parish SWAT team members, narcotics agents, juvenile detectives and criminal detective investigators, he stated.
“I want to commend our law enforcement officers for the outstanding job of investigating this case. I thank them for the long hours of surveillance, thorough planning and coordination, and the fact that no one was injured or abused speaks volumes of their professionalism,” Guidroz stated.
Arrested were:
Corey M. Lanclos, 31, 100 block of Rodney Road, Sunset. Three counts of possession with intent to distribute Schedule I, possession with intent to distribute Schedule II, possession of drug paraphernalia, transactions of drug proceeds, illegal weapons in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of Schedule IV, monetary instrument abuse (counterfeit money) and switched license plate.
Nicole R. Stroud, 39, 2400 block of Jake Drive, Opelousas. Two counts of possession of Schedule I, possession of Schedule II, and possession of controlled dangerous substance in the presence of minors.
Hunter J. Lanclos, 26, 100 block of Rodney Road, Sunset. Attempted theft (warrant).
Sydni M. Myers, 26, 8100 block of North I-49 Service Road, Opelousas. Attempted theft (warrant).
Hunter Lanclos and Myers, who were present during the search, had outstanding warrants unrelated in the narcotics case, Guidroz stated.
