It wasn’t the way the Blue Jays wanted to end the regular season as Westminster Christian Academy handed St. Edmund a 3-1 loss on Senior Night.
The No. 8 The Blue Jays (21-10) await the LHSAA playoff brackets expected to be released today.
WCA (16-12) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the frist inning, begun when Holden Broussard singled, Jobee Boone walked and both scored on an Blue Jay error.
St. Edmund closed the gap to 2-1 in the bottom of the inning when Jack Miller walked and scored om a hit by Brad Miller.
The Blue Jays threatened in the bottom of the second when Ian Dupre walked but a ground out ended the inning.
WCA had a chance to add a run in the top of the third when Zach Bacilla doubled and Broussard walked but neither could score.
Brock Bieber reached on a fielder’s choice in the bottom of the inning, but the Jays could not tie the game.
The Crusaders added an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning when Bacillla walked, advanced on a passed ball and scored on a triple by Broussard.
Boone earned the complete game as he allowed a run on two hits with six strikeouts and three walks.
Dawson Ardoin pitched 6.2 innings for the Jays as he allowed one earned run on four hits with eight strikeouts and three walks.
Broussard went 3-for-3 with a walk and RBI for WCA.
Carter Lejeune and Brad Miller recorded the only two hits for the Jays.
