CROWLEY - A house fire on E. Eighth St. in Crowley which was reported at 2:30 a.m. Thursday killed a woman and her 23-month-old child.

"I woke up at 2:30 a.m. last night when a police officer which was on patrol knocked on the door the road," said neighbor Ronald Quebedeaux.

"I could see the glow out of my window and when I looked outside there were flames shooting out of the back of the house...that's just a shame. I know it was young lady and a baby that were there and the man who lived there got called out to work at about 10:30 p.m. last night. He's on his way back right now," Acadiatoday.com reported.
