With his family and fellow Broncos by his side, Von Rosenberg inked the deal and made it official last Wednesday. He is now an LSU Tiger.
By Division I Rule, LSU and representatives of LSU could not be at the signing or communicate with Von Rosenberg; however, as soon as the ink dried, it was to be sure that Coach Mainieri would call Von Rosenberg to welcome him to LSU.
“I’m happy for Zack. All parents want to see their kids’ dreams come true,” said Zack’s dad, Randall.
“It’s been a real good process but a long one. I’ve been working with Zack since he’s been playing T-Ball. Zack feels like Coach Mainieri is building a good program and that LSU has done a great job recruiting him,” said older brother and Assistant Coach Josh Corman.
“I’ve known Zack since he was 10-years-old. It’s tough to see him or any of these kids leave but he has the opportunity to go to one of the best baseball programs in the last 20 years,” said ZHS Head Baseball Coach Cassard.
It was as a freshman at Barbe High School in Lake Charles, that Von Rosenberg pitched his way to his first state championship for the Class 5-A school.
The right-handed pitcher finished last season with a 10-1 record and a 1.30 earned run average.
Von Rosenberg assisted his Bronco teammates, repeating the success he had at Barbe, to take the win back-to-back for ZHS.
“I’m thrilled. It hasn’t hit me yet. It will hit me tonight when I talk to Coach Mainieri. I’m looking forward to the Fall of ‘09. My first season as an LSU Tiger,” said Von Rosenberg.
