CROWLEY – Three parish-wide propositions and the open office of District 4 Public Service Commissioner will be on the ballot this Saturday as voters will head to the polls.

The seat for Public Service Commissioner, which was vacated when Dale Sittig left the post, will be contested between three candidates; Gil Pinac (R-Crowley), Clyde Holloway (R-Forest Hill), and Joe McPherson (D- Woodworth).

Proposition 1 is a ten year, 2.12 mills tax renewal for the purpose of maintaining, constructing, improving and operating the Parish’s Cooperative Extension Service Building and the Parish’s Multi-Purpose Building and Arena.

Proposition 2 is a tax extension and continuation, a ten year, 2.12 mills tax extension and continuation for the purpose of improving and paying the maintenance and operating expenses of the public health units of Acadia Parish and other related public health activities.

Another tax continuation, Proposition 3, is a 10-year, 6.19 mills property tax continuation for maintaining and operating the public schools in the district, including School District No. 7 of the 2nd Police Jury Ward of Evangeline Parish and the 7th Police Jury Ward of Acadia Parish.

The public is encouraged to get out and vote.
