A pickup truck ran off a La. 92 and crashed into a ditch this morning, killing the driver and injuring four passengers.

William M. Hensgens, 27, of Crowley was traveling west on La. 92 south of Crowley at 2:12 a.m. when his truck ran off the road to the right and entered the ditch. The truck then struck an embankment and overturned.

Hensgens, who was not wearing his seat belt, was partially ejected and pinned under the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hensgens’ four passengers suffered minor to moderate injuries. Police identified them as Ross G. Thibodeaux, 25, of Midland; Shelby Watson, 19, of Madisonville; Jeanne Marie Maraist, 20, of Lafayette; and Kenneth M. Habetz Jr., 26, of Crowley.

Watson and Maraist were transported to Crowley American Legion Hospital.
