Early morning single vehicle accident leaves truck in ditch

According to Eunice Police on Wednesday morning at 4:35 a.m. a Schneider National semi-truck driver for unknown reasons left the road on S. East Street near Manuel Street and landed himself and his truck in a ditch.

The driver was unharmed.

Eunice Police responded to the single-vehicle accident scene with a police officer saying the truck traveled from Maple Avenue turned onto S. East Street and left the roadway, skidding 100- or-so feet into the ditch.

EPD blocked off traffic on S. East Street while Lavergne's Towing service hauled off the truck.

Three heavy-duty wreckers were required to pull the truck out of the ditch, which was said to be full of automotive parts.

Shortly before 9 a.m., the truck was towing workers had removed the truck from the ditch.
