Christian Goudeau, who represented Morris in a defamation suit filed against him in 2008, has enrolled as co-counsel in defending the city and the mayor in a suit filed by Environmental Processing Inc. and John Baham.
A hearing scheduled for Aug. 4 before Judge Alonzo Harris has been continued.
Harris was scheduled to hear, from EPI, why he should hold the mayor in contempt of a Temporary Restraining Order issued last fall, an order prohibiting the city and/or Morris from interfering with EPI access to the Eunice wastewater system.
EPI’s attorney has asked Morris be held in contempt for what he calls utter disrespect of the court.
Morris, through attorney Vernon McManus, contends Harris overstepped his authority in issuing the TRO and that no contempt has taken place.
McManus and Goudeau are now the city’s lawyers on the matter.
