Chad Pitre inaugural ceremony for district attorney

An inaugural ceremony was held for Chad Pitre, 27th Judicial District Court district attorney. Pitre was elected November defeating Charles Cravins, who had been serving as interim district attorney after the retirement of Earl Taylor. Taylor had served 23 years. Supreme Court Judge James Genovese administered the oath of office to Pitre and several assistant district attorneys. Mike Leger was master of ceremonies. Guest speaker was State Attorney General Jeff Landry. Deacon Ulysses Joubert gave the inaugural prayer and the Rev. Caleb Semien gave the benediction. The St. Landry Parish Honor Guard, led by CWO Link Savoie, was present. Singers were Kristen Miller, Marlayna Myers, Joni Roy, Olivia Chatman and Jenna Chatman. (Photos by Harlan Kirgan)
