Mima Doucet continues to pile on the postseason awards as the sophomore has been named to the NJCAA All-American first-team, the association announced Wednesday. It’s the second All-American recognition for Doucet this year.
Doucet was named to the NFCA NJCAA Division II First-Team earlier this month alongside teammate Madison Monson. The Lafayette native was one of 39 recipients to be honored by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA).
She joins elite company as she becomes just the sixth LSUE softball student-athlete to receive a first-team nomination by both the NJCAA and NFCA. Doucet is added to the list of Rebecca Skains, Darby Bishop, Raven Cole, Destin Vicknair and Tina Schulz.
The sophomore had one of the most successful offensive years in LSU Eunice history. Doucet was the everyday third baseman, leading the team and nation in doubles with 29. That mark also broke the LSUE single-season record set by fellow Notre Dame HS alum Taylor Simon in 2013.
The SLU commit led the team in batting average (.455), runs (79), hits (100) and stolen bases (39). Her 100 hits are the third most in single-season program history and her runs scored are also third-most.
Des Moines Area CC led the All-American team with four first-team nominations. Jones County’s Kelsha Loftin (first-team) and Karli Perque (second-team), Itawamba’s Bailie Springfield (second-team) and Hinds’ Nicole Skerlong (third-team) round out the other Region 23 All-Americans.
