Acadia Parish crash claims 2 lives

A two-vehicle crash resulted in two men suffering fatal injuries on La. 3070 (McCain Road) at La. 98 in Acadia Parish shortly before 7:30 a.m. Thursday, according to a news release from Louisiana State Police Troop I.
Police identified the victms as 40-year-old Carlos Lazo of Duson and 28-year-old Luis Estrada of Scott.

Trio arrested in Acadia Parish

Three people were arrested after Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators executed a search warrant in the 7200 block of the Church Point Highway in Branch on Wednesday afternoon.
Sheriff KP Gibson stated in a news release, “The search was in regards to an open investigation of stolen property. The search led to the recovery of a stolen Harley Davidson motorcycle, illegal firearms and illegal drugs.”
Deputies recovered a 2002 Harley Davidson motorcycle, several firearms with one being a sawed off shotgun and 15 grams of methamphetamine.

Racquel Heaven Malone

Missing juvenile

The Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 15-year-old Racquel Heaven Malone who left her foster home near Basile during the night or early morning hours of Aug. 21 – 22 and has not been seen since.
Malone is described as a white female, medium build, 5’4” in height, weighing 130 pounds with long black hair and brown eyes.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office arrests

The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Aug. 30
Donavon Devon Thomas, 23, 700 block of East Street, Opelousas. Obstruction of justice, flight from an officer, resisting an officer, reckless operation of a vehicle, possession with intent to distribute Schedule I CDS (two counts), drug paraphernalia, bench warrant. Arrested by Opelousas city marshals.

Eunice Police arrests

The following are arrests by Eunice Police.
Aug. 29
Sydney Dayshawn Ben, 21, 700 block of Richard Street, Eunice. Theft less than $1,000.
Jeffrey Cormier, 43, 100 block of Mill Street, Eunice. Contempt of court.
Destiny Janae Jordan, 17, 3100 block of U.S. 190, Elton. Possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Schedule 1, possession of Schedule II and unlawful sale, purchase or possession of tobacco.
