Eunice Police arrests

The following are arrests by Eunice Police.
March 23
Joshua Cormier, 26, 700 block of South 4th Street, Eunice. Battery on a dating partner, second conviction.

March 25
Trevor Briley, 19, homeless, Eunice. Theft valued less than $1,000.
John R. Lee, 36, 700 block of South 5th Street, Eunice. Possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

St. Landry Crime Stoppers seeks tips to home burglaries

St. Landry Crime Stoppers is asking for leads to solve a rash of home burglaries.
On March 12, deputies responded to seven home burglaries in the south end of the parish. The suspects either kicked in the doors or broke windows to gain entry.
During one burglary the home owner returned home and noticed a silver two-doorm possibly a Pontiac, car backed up to the rear carport area of his residence. When the owner approached the vehicle, a black male ran out the rear door of his residence and fled the scene along with another black male driver towards Sunset.

Grave situation investigated at rural Eunice cemetery

An investigation is under way on reports of a moved grave and missing tombstone at cemetery south of Eunice on the old Crowley highway.
The Acadia Parish Sheriff, Louisiana Cemetery Board and State Police are involved in the investigation.
Acadia Parish Sheriff K.P. Gibson said on Thursday his deputies were trying to determine if any laws had been broken.
On March 13, Lena Rougeau discovered an unknown grave in the spot where her son, Ray III, was buried, according to a report by KLFY.

Rayne Police Chief Carroll J. Stelly displays counterfeit money recovered by his officers.

Stolen vehicle, counterfeit money recovered

Chief of Police Carroll J. Stelly reports that, on March 16, the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office contacted the Rayne Police Department and requested assistance in locating a stolen 2007 white Hummer H3.
Officers located the vehicle at a Fourth Street residence and verified the vehicle was still stolen.
Officers initiated a traffic stop and the driver of the vehicle was identified as Kevin McCommons, 32, of 603 Fourth St., Rayne.
