The Eunice Police Department received a total of $3,000 to support its police dog, Robin that is handled by Lt.. Michael Dunn. The checks, each for $1,500, came from the Eunice Walmart store and the Walmart Distribution Center north of Opelousas. The donation resulted from grant-writing by the Faith Christian Worship Center’s Rooted Leaders. Eunice Police Chief Randy Fontenot said a portion of the money will be used to by a bite suit used in training the dog. The Eunice Police Department received a total of $3,000 to support its police dog, Robin that is handled by Lt.. Michael Dunn.

Charges dismissed for pedestrians struck by vehicle

Charges were dismissed Monday against three Ville Platte residents who were charged with Foot Traffic/Reflective Gear.
Cody Mayes, Deonte Williams, and Tevin Wilson were each charged with the offense on August 22, 2017, after being struck by a vehicle in the roadway near the intersection of North Chataignier Street and East Lincoln Road.
According to a release from Ville Platte Chief of Police Neal Lartigue, “the driver remained at the scene and stated that he was blinded by the headlights of an oncoming vehicle.”

The following are arrests by Eunice Police.
Oct. 5
James C. Faul, 54, 400 block of North St. Joseph, Eunice. Disturbing the peace.
Michael T. Jenkins, 29, 3500 block of Stagg Avenue, Basile. Disturbing the peace (public intoxication).
Trae J. Thibodeaux, 27, 100 block of Jeff Thibodeaux Road, Eunice. Second-degree battery.
