Chamber of Commerce to hold first annual Clay Shoot next week. The Eunice Chamber of Commerce has announced that their first annual Sporting Clay Shoot will be held Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Cajun Elite Shooting Club in Evangeline.

New CEO set to start at Acadian Medical. James P. “Butch” Frasier, III is the new chief executive officer at Acadian Medical Center. He was most recently CEO of Jamestown, Tenn., Regional Medical Center.

Staff Sgt. John Middlebrooks of Eunice was one of two Louisiana National Guard soldiers deployed to Afghanistan. A news release announced that Middlebrooks and Sgt. 1st Class Kermit Manuel of Jennings has re-enlisted. Each would receive a $15,000 bonus.
Josie Aguillard received the Good Citizen Award at the Iota Junior High awards program. The Daughters of the American Revolution award was presented by Charlene Guidry Lacombe, Acadia chapter regent.

Juniors Leah Andrus and Caroline Aguillard were named to the first team 6-1A All District softball team.
LSUE Chancellor William Nunez was protesting a proposed 5 percent cut in the state’s higher education budget.
Eunice High softball players awarded major honors included Amber Darbonne, Blaire Fusilier, Jori LeJeune, Andrea Kramer, Sarah Hebert and K.K. Devillier.
