Mayor Kenneth Peart called a meeting of Eunice organizations to discuss creating a retirement community.
Ira Richard was in a photo making a donation to help with advertising about a tax proposal to fund the police department. With Richard was Lt. Bruce Vige.
Joe Bertrand, past president of the Acadian Shrine Club, handed over the gavel to new president, Gerald Bergeron.

Easter ham winners named

Easter ham vouchers can be picked up here at the Eunice News fro 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through. The deadline to redeem the hams from Champagnes is April 23.

The following are from the April 1997 files of The Eunice News.
Dr. Scott Parks, a 1979 graduate of Eunice High School, spoke to the Eunice Kiwanis Club about playing bagpipes. Parks received his medical doctorate from the LSU School of Medicine in 1987.
LSUE Chancellor William Nunez was planning to attend the Eunice city council meeting to ask its support to keep LSUE as part of the LSU System.

The following are from the March 1991 files of The Eunice News.
Tonya Zaunbrecher, Sara Fuselier and Stephanie Bourque made the all-district first team for the Jayettes.
The Cajun Bell Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association recognized members’ contributions to the chapter. Among those honored were Dean Zerbe, Cathy Fusilier, Yvonne Tujaque and Peggy McCauley.
Eunice High Schools’ Ubeja Anderson finished second in the 55-meter hurdles at the Natioanl Scholastic Indoor Meet at the Carrier Dome on the Syracuse University campus.

The following are items from the March 1991 files of The Eunice News.
Dot Stagg was heading the Eunice Service League project to raise money for playground equipment at the Northwest Community Center. Janet Seale Marcantel was ordering the equipment. Also, completing plans were Belle Manuel and Jean Reviere.
Laura Richard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Richard, received a $55,000 scholarship from Springhill College in Mobile, Alabama. She was one of three out of 700 students to receive the full tuition scholarship. Richard was a student at St. Edmund High School.
