In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness for the month of October, members of the Bulb & Blossom Garden Club in Eunice took time to freshen up its “Plant It Pink” area on Park Avenue. The Plant it Pink project is an ongoing initiative of both the National Garden Club and the Louisiana Garden Club Federation in which the Eunice club holds membership. In an effort to promote awareness of breast cancer issues, Garden Clubs around the Nation were encouraged to plant areas of pink flowers in local public landscapes, at hospitals, cancer centers and other sites, in order to raise public consciousness. The area just across from the Liberty Theater was established in 2013 by the Bulb & Blossom Garden Club. It includes a row of Lady Hawthorn shrubs and ornamental baskets planted with Society Garlic.
