Louisiana 4-H’ers place in regional horse show

BATON ROUGE — Several Louisiana 4-H members brought home awards from a recent regional horse show.
They were among 4-H’ers from 13 states who participated in the Southern Regional 4-H Horse Show, held Aug. 1 to 5 in Perry, Georgia.
Louisiana contestants who placed in the top 10 of riding events are:
— Aaron Blackmer, Vermilion Parish, fifth place, ranch roping.
— Riley Brumfield, Lafourche Parish, seventh place, barrel racing.
— Gracie Caskey, Winn Parish, first place, barrel racing; sixth place, stake riding.
— Allison Copeland, West Carroll Parish, third place, stake race.
— Danae Cowart, East Baton Rouge Parish, sixth place, ranch riding; seventh place, ranch roping.
— Dora Dawson, Richland Parish, second place, ranch breakaway roping; fifth place, ranch trail; eighth place, ranch working cow horse; eighth place, ranch riding.
— Elizabeth Gilmore, Terrebonne Parish, first place, ranch reining; sixth place, western riding.
— Isabelle Gonzalez, Lafayette Parish, fourth place, ranch riding; fourth place, ranch reining; fourth place, ranch ground handling; fourth place, ranch working cow horse; fourth place, ranch roping.
— Gianna Gross, St. Tammany Parish, seventh place, western riding.
— Abby Claire Hillman, Richland Parish, ninth place, pole bending.
— Emma Grace Marangos, East Baton Rouge Parish, first place, working cow horse; 10th place, ranch riding.
— Kaylea Marionneaux, East Baton Rouge Parish, eighth place, western riding; 10th place, ranch working cow horse.
— Marcus Meza, St. Landry Parish, third place, hunter equitation over fences.
— Jessie Monnin, Franklin Parish, third place, ranch reining.
— Jordan Sharp, Catahoula Parish, second place, stake race; third place, pole bending; eighth place, barrel racing.
— Taylor Theriot, Terrebonne Parish, seventh place, pole bending.
— Peyton Wooley, St. Tammany Parish, second place, western riding.
— Clay Zaunbrecher, Vermilion Parish, first place, ranch roping.
Those who placed in educational contests are:
— Celine Auzenne and Kelsi Fanguy, Vermilion Parish, fourth place, team demo.
— Shelby Brown and Melonie Coker, Winn Parish, seventh place, team demo.
— Tucker Henderson, Natchitoches Parish, eighth place, public speaking.
— Grace Sharplin, Jackson Parish, seventh place, individual demo.
Those whose horses placed in judging are:
— Evan Privat, Lafayette Parish, first place, western stock type mare.
— Emma Grace Marangos, East Baton Rouge Parish, eighth place, western stock type mare.
Teams from Louisiana also competed in a quiz bowl and a horse judging contest but did not make the top 10.
