March is celebrated as “Women’s History Month” to give recognition to those women who have made major contributions to their communities and/or the world in general. In the city of Eunice, several women have made several impacts in different areas in our community.
Members of the National Association of University Women, Eunice Branch, with Carolyn Baldwin as the president, used this time to recognize four women for their continuous work in various areas of community activities to make citizens stronger and more informed. Specifically selected were Crystal Danielle Freeman, Pastor Kayla Givs, Jean Ella Celestine Guillory and Velma Joseph LaFleur.
Also recognized and honored were the “NAUW 2020 - 2021 Single Parent,” Brittany Dupre, and the “2020 NAUW Woman of the Year,” Shelsy Williams.
Emcee for the program, held March 15 at the Southeast Neighborhood Center, was Shaconda Arvie with members Lelia Adams, Carolyn Baldwin, Henrietta Dupre, Patricia Harrison, Chiquita Thomas, and Shelsy Williams all participated.
“Lil’ Miss NAUW” Bailey White presented a special poem.
