Blair Briggs has announced he is a candidate for St. Landry Parish assessor in the Oct. 12 election.
Briggs announcement includes the following.
Briggs is a lifelong resident of St. Landry Parish. He is married to Heather Smith Briggs and has two children, Austin, 21, and Audrey, 17.
Briggs lists his experience and education as follows:
— Louisiana State University - Eunice; Northwestern State University, business administration;
— Opelousas City Councilman - District C, 2010-2018;
— Founder and owner of Southern Fire Protection;
— Owner and manager of Blair Briggs Enterprises, LLC;
— Residential and commercial real estate;
— Owner and manager of of Blair Briggs, LCC, farm, timberland, and recreational properties; and
— Property and casualty insurance executive with RCF Insurance of Opelousas.
Briggs lists his community involvement as follows:
— Volunteer swim coach at Westminster Christian Academy;
— Mentor for individuals in drug and alcohol recovery since 2005;
— A.C.T.S. retreat participant teamed by St. Anthony of Padua Church in Eunice;
— Committee member of Delta Waterfowl;
— Advocate for Hunter’s for the Hungry Food Drive; and
— Eunice Men’s Tennis League.
