Eunice school leads in state growth scores

East Elementary School in Eunice received state recognition as the highest ranking Top Growth school in the state of Louisiana in English Language Arts and Math, according to a news release from the St. Landry Parish School Board.
The Louisiana Department of Education reported 78 percent of the students at East Elementary are on track to mastery in mathematics followed by 74 percent in English Language Arts.
The state department released information to superintendents demonstrating how students across the state in grades 4-12 are progressing toward fully mastering key concepts and skills in English language arts (ELA) and math year-after-year.
Gina Lagrange, East Elementary principal, attributed the school’s ranking to the continuous effort, dedication, teamwork of the faculty and staff and all stakeholders.
St. Landry parish schools achieving Top Growth district-wide in English Language Arts include:
East Elementary – 74 percent;
Grand Prairie Elementary – 67 percent;
Magnet Academy for Cultural Arts (MACA) – 62 percent;
Krotz Springs Elementary – 61 percent.
In mathematics district-wide, East Elementary School garnered the top spot for Top Growth, having 78 percent of its students being on track to mastery while 63 percent of Arnaudville Elementary students are on track to mastery.
In addition to being a Top Growth school, 60 percent of East Elementary students scored mastery or above in English Language Arts (ELA) on LEAP 2025. MACA, with 73 percent of their students scoring mastery or above, had the highest percentage of students scoring mastery or above in the district in ELA. Grand Prairie Elementary was ranked second in the district for having 64 percent of its students score mastery or above in ELA and 63 percent scoring mastery or above in Math. Port Barre Elementary was the highest in the district in Math, with 65 percent of its students scoring mastery and above.
