Jeff Corwin is filmed as he prepares to catch crawfish in a St. Landry parish pond. The television personality caught crawfish, then was shown how to cook them in a variety of ways. The Food Network segment will air late this year or in early 2010.

Popcorn Kickoff. Cub Scout Pack 430 held their annual Popcorn Kickoff on Sunday, Sept. 13. They will be around selling popcorn for the next month. The sales help finance local scouting activities.
Sampling the services. One of the many senior citizens attending last Wednesday’s TRIAD meeting at the VFW Hall of East Laurel picks up a sample from a table provided to health care vendors. Attendees heard news on the medical front as well as got information on home and personal security at the St. Landry Sheriff Dept.-sponsored event.

Garden of the Week. Glenn and Sharlene Laughlin’s residence was honored as the Garden of the Week by the Eunice Bulb & Blossom Garden Club. The 341 W. Vine residence features flowering beds of crepe myrtles, vincas, Indian Hawthornes, azaleas, sasanquas, and day lilies. From left are Sharlene Laughlin, and Genny Dischler, volunteer member.
