LSUE chancellor search down to 3 candidates

The search for the next LSUE chancellor has been narrowed to three candidates, according to the LSUE website.
Mary Werner, chair-elect of the LSU Board of Supervisors, said the naming of new chancellor should occur soon. Werner conferred degrees at the LSUE commencement ceremony Friday.
The final three candidates are Nancee Sorenson, Dwight Watson and Ron Dempsey.
They visited the LSUE campus in April. They candidates met with staff, faculty and students during their visits.
Briefs on each candidate on the LSUE website were:
— Dr. Nancee Sorenson joined Hillsborough Community College in January of 2015 as the first female president for the Brandon Campus. She has a 30-year career in higher education with her most recent position as vice president of Student Development at the East Campus of Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona, and in 2012 served as acting president for that campus.
— Dr. Dwight C. Watson is the provost and vice president of Academic and Student Affairs at Southwest Minnesota State University and has served in this role since 2015. As provost and vice president, he supervises the academic deans and their departments, the dean of students and the associate vice president of Student Affairs, and the chief information officer.
— Dr. Ron Dempsey is the vice president for University Advancement at Winona State University and has served in this role since 2016. As vice president for University Advancement, he is responsible for overseeing the operations for the offices of Development, Alumni Relations, Marketing/Communication, and Governmental Relations for Winona State and serves on the president’s executive senior staff.

Bill Rodier, executive director of St. Landry Parish Economic Development;
Mary Werner, director and vice president of The North American Land Company, LLC, and Sweet Lake Land & Oil Company, LLC, and chair-elect of the LSU Board of Supervisors; and
Jeff Willis, LSUE athletic director and head baseball coach.
Dr. William Crowe has been serving as interim chancellor since December 2018 after Kimberly Russell left the chancellor’s job that she held for three years and accepted a position at Texas Woman’s University.
Crowe, 65, came out of retirement to take the chancellor’s job after Russell left.
Russell took the LSUE post in July 2015 coming from Tyler (Texas) Junior College.
