A possible donation of property to the city is on the Eunice Board of Aldermen’s agenda for the Tuesday meeting at the Eunice Municipal Complex.
Bill Thompson, code enforcement officer, said Travis Wood, owner of a house at 651 East Magnolia, which has been damaged by a fire, said he would be interested in donating the property to the city.
Vernon McManus, city attorney, said if the city does not take the property than it would go through the normal process that may end in condemnation in a years-long process.
“In this particular case it is very likely the land would be cleared of the structure, but the grass is going to have to be maintained,” he said.
If the city obtains the property it can be sold immediately, he said.
As of the Thursday agenda meeting, the list of items for the Board and Mayor Scott Fontenot to consider was somewhat short.
A public hearing is scheduled at 6:15 p.m. for an ordinance to restrict traffic to all but school buses between South 9th and 10th streets from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m.
The Board meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. and the agenda includes:
— A hearing on property at 120 and 130 W. Bacciochi St.
— Announcement of the Experience Louisiana Festival on Oct. 28 and 29 at the LSUE campus.
— Announcement of Noel on the Prairie on Nov. 11 and 12.
— Presentation by Jerrie LeDoux, U.S. Rep. Mike Johnson’s community liason.
— Announcement of a proclamation for Chiropractor Month.
