Taster’s Choice winners listed

Many started the Mardi Gras season off Wednesday evening at the annual Taster’s Choice.
A crowd gathered at LSUE Acadian Center for ‘tasting and sampling’ of different foods during the eighth annual Taster’s Choice (Le Courir De Mardi Gras Pour Le Clinic).
The event is a cooking competition and is the major fundraiser for the Eunice Community Health Center.
Geno Delafose provided live Cajun Zydeco entertainment for the crowd.
There was also a silent and live auction.
Cooking teams included Rocky’s, Shrimp and crab stew; GG Tamales, hot tamales; AMC4, Coushatta Casino Resort, Crab, corn bisque with wild mushroom, and King cake bread pudding; Judy’s Pelican Restaurant, Cajun Tatars; Zeus Cafe’, chicken lasagna; I CARE Johnston, deer chili; Maple Avenue Pharmacy, Crawfish mexican cornbread and shrimp rice salad; Trinity Medical, Eunice City Marshal’s Office, Red beans and rice; Frey Companies, Duck stew; Bordelon Mafia, Smoked duck and Andouille; Watcha’ Cookin, pork, sausage and tasso sauce piquante; Acadian Engineers & Environmental Consultants, AJB Cupcakes, carrot and German chocolate cupcakes; EnLink Midstream, Alligator chili; City of Eunice Mayor Scott Fontenot and councilmen Bertrand and Sattler, Patriots VFW 8971, Fontenot’s Lawn Service, Eunice Mardi Gras Association, Eunice Career Center & Technical Education Center, chicken stew meat pies; Team Blue Advantage, Grace Home Health, Nurse Family Partnership.
Yancy Fontenot, executive director at the Eunice Community Health Center, said, “I was pleasantly pleased with the outcome and people who came out, and appreciate the support of the community.”
Winners included the following:
Professional Entree Division:
First place- Judy’s Pelican with their Cajun Tators dish.
Second place- Coushatta Casino and Resort with the Crab & Corn Bisque.
Third place - Zeus’ Cafe with the Meat Pies.
Amateur Entree Division:
First place - City of Eunice Mayor and Councilmen Bertrand and Sattler with Crawfish Etouffee.
Second place - Acadian Engineers and Environmental Services with Seafood Lasagna.
Third place - Fontenot Lawn Service with Crawfish Pasta.
Professional Dessert Division:
First place - Coushatta Casino and Resort with King Cake Bread Pudding.
Amateur Dessert Division:
First place - AJB Cupcakes.
Second place - Team BLUE Advantage.
Queens Choice Professional Entree: Judy’s Pelican.
Queens Choice Amateur Entree: City of Eunice Mayor and Councilmen Bertrand and Sattler.
Queens Choice Professional Dessert: Coushatta Casino and Resort.
Queens Choice Amateur Dessert: AJB Cupcakes.
Peoples Choice Entree: Patriots VFW #8971 with Chicken & Sausage Jambalaya.
Peoples Choice Seafood Entree: City of Eunice Mayor and Councilmen Bertrand and Sattler.
Peoples Choice Wild Game Entree: EnLink Midsteam with Alligator Chili.
Peoples Choice Dessert: AJB Cupcakes.
