Mitch Fontenot’s daughter Millie, 7, learned the true meaning of Thanksgiving this year.
Mitch and Millie held a neighborhood food drive where the Fontenots’ live, University Place.
Fontenot said, “I wanted to teach her the true meaning of Thanksgiving, and about teaching her to give to the community and caring for others.”
The duo went about their mission, made flyers titled, “The University Place Neighborhood Giveback.” The notepaper said, “I need your help. Millie and I would like to pick up food for The Eunice Food Bank. If you could put a few canned goods or anything you can to spare in a bag outside your front door, we will come by in our LSU golf cart and pick up the donations Monday at 5:30. We will then deliver them in the name of The University Place Neighborhood.
“Hopefully one small act will bring joy to those who need help.”
The Fontenots are hoping to make this Thanksgiving food donation from their neighborhood a tradition... and for years to come.
