Mayor thanks all for Mardi Gras success

On behalf of the members of the Eunice City Council and all of the citizens of Eunice who benefit directly and indirectly from the visitors to our City, I wish to thank everyone who helped make 2019 Eunice Mardi Gras a success.

Speed monitoring trailer deployed

The St. Landry sheriff’s office has purchased a speed monitoring trailer that surveys and helps determine where, and what time to put “boots/radars on the ground” on those particular roads for speed enforcement, according to Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.

John Albert Guidry Sr. passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at the age of 74. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at 1:00 PM at Quirk and Son Funeral Home in Eunice. Burial will follow at Ashford Cemetery in Basile. Deacon Gary Gaudin will officiate.

K-9 team places 2nd in state competition

Opelousas woman dies in house fire

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of an overnight house fire in Opelousas that claimed the life of a female occupant, according to a news release from the fire marshal. The Opelousas Fire Department was called to the 2000 block of Jake Drive just before 2 a.m. on Sunday.
