U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy has stirred up a hornet’s nest back in the Bayou State over his Facebook comments of eating a Louisiana delicacy. The senator had this to say: “Found this raccoon in my backyard. We ate him for breakfast.” He even included a photo of the raccoon.

Crime Stoppers tip leads to arrest of man in Basile case

According to Chief Allen Ivory Jr. of the Basile Police Department, “Jeramie Brown who was wanted on numerous charges from his office has been arrested with the help of St. Landry Crime Stoppers and several law enforcement agencies.” The charges stem from a Feb. 12 domestic violence complaint.

Man seeks clemency in Eunice murder

A Eunice man convicted of second-degree murder in 1996 is applying to the state Board of Pardons for clemency. Jarred Lanclow was sentenced to life without the benefit of parole when he was convicted of second-degree murder in the January, 1996, shooting death of Chad Doucet, 20, of Church Point.
