The following are arrests reported by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office. Feb. 14 Jeremy C. Fontenot, 47, 200 block of Carriere Street, Port Barre. Speeding, driving under suspension, hold for Lafayette Parish. Arrested by Louisiana State Police.

The triumphs of President Trump

I wish I could hone in on all the spectacular moments from President Donald Trump’s State of the Union Address Tuesday to spotlight my favorite parts, but unfortunately the entire speech was so impressive that it is hard to pick out what I truly enjoyed hearing him say the most.

P.J. sect.-treas. term, pay considered

The Acadia Parish Police Jury will consider going back to the state Legislature this year in another effort to extend the term of office for its secretary-treasurer. Along those same lines, when jurors meet Tuesday, Feb. 12, they also will consider a pay raise for the position.

Anita Rose Fristoe, 71, of Springdale, Arkansas, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2019. Anita is preceded in death by her parents Clement and Lydia Broussard; two brothers, Clarence Broussard and Calvin Broussard; two sisters, Mildred Pelly and Ruth DuBose.

ROBERTS COVE - Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 15, 2019, at a 2 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Leo IV Catholic Church in Roberts Cove for Lawrence Joseph Habetz, 89, who died Tuesday, Feb. 12, at Encore Heath Care in Crowley surrounded by his loving family.
