Aldermen OK 6-year plan for airport

A six-year, $3.4 million plan for improvements at the Eunice Airport was approved by the Board of Aldermen at a meeting Tuesday.  Drew Miller, airport manager, said, “Basically, when we do this the city of Eunice really doesn’t put up anything. It is all state and federal monies.

Acadia Crime Stoppers seeks fugitive

Crime Stoppers of Acadia Parish needs help to locate a fugitive. Detectives with the Acadia Parish Sheriff’s Office need help in locating Reid Thibodeaux, white male, 39 years of age. He is described as being 5’6” in height, weighing 175 pounds, with black hair.

Woman, 33, charged with having sex with male juvenile

Lannie Benot, 33, of the 2400 block of Little Teche Road, Port Barre, has been charged with felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a a juvenile, according to St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz in a news release.

EHS Booster Club meeting Tuesday There will be a EHS Booster Club meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Northwest Community Center in Eunice. There will be election of officers that night, and members are encouraged to attend. New members are welcomed. A meal will be served.

Richard Volunteer Fire Dept. benefit is Saturday

The Richard Volunteer Fire Department’s 31st annual benefit will be held from 5 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the station, 1740 Charlene Hwy, Church Point. Live music will be provided by Ronnie Matthews & Throw down and Horace Trahan & the Ossun Express.

Kaplan police chief charged with theft, malfeasance

Kaplan Police Chief Boyd Adams turned himself in Monday morning to the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Office after a warrant was issued for his arrest by the Louisiana State Police. Adams was charged with malfeasance in office and felony theft.

Chataignier murder victim’s son opposes killer’s bid for parole

The son of a murder victim spoke out in response to a recent decision that was handed down by the Louisiana 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals. Glynn Lavergne’s mother Bernice was murdered in 1992 in her store in Chataignier. The suspect arrested for the crime was then 15-year-old Russell Ross Rubin.

Sept. 11 attacks remembered

Each year since 2002 Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Eunice has provided free barbecue plate lunches for all first responders in remembrance and to honor those who responded to the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania.

GOP not ready to disavow candidates
