City agenda includes audit report

An audit report from Shirley Vigé Jr. is on the Eunice Board of Aldermen’s agenda for its 6:30 p.m. Tuesday meeting at the Eunice Municipal Complex.
The audit is for the fiscal year July 2018 to June 2019.
There was no discussion about the audit at the Board’s agenda meeting on Thursday.
Two properties were on the agenda for show cause hearings, a procedure before condemnation.
Bill Thompson, code enforcement officer, said there may be a buyer for 241 Julia Street.
Mayor Scott Fontenot said the potential buyer should be advised to go through Civic Source, which auctions adjudicated properties online.
The property is one of about 38 properties adjudicated to the city.
Also on the agenda is property at 410 Perrotti St. Thompson said there is a trailer on site.
A resolution on the agenda asks for Board approval to seek a Local Government Assistance Program grant for the Eunice Public Library.
Board member Ernest Blanchard asked that a disciplinary board consisting of the mayor an alderman be formed for police and fire department employee hearings.
Earlier this year, the Board removed the police chief’s hiring and firing authority. The police personnel actions must now go to the Board of Aldermen.
Police Chief Randy Fontenot requested that a 2007 Chevrolet Impala be placed on a surplus list along with 18 portable radios. The vehicle and radios are not operational, he said.
