On Monday, Eunice Police received a tip that a wanted person, identified as Lois Daniel Jones, 20, Eunice, was near a local business establishment. Upon officers’ arrival, Jones attempted to evade officers by fleeing on foot. After a brief pursuit, Jones was taken into custody. Jones was wanted for five counts of attempted second-degree murder subsequent to an investigation of a shooting incident that occurred on May 14, 2023, in which five victims and three suspects were involved. Only one victim was injured in the incident. The victim was treated and released from a local hospital. Jones is the second arrest made by Eunice Police in this incident.

The Lady Bobcats celebrated Senior Night with an impressive showing as Eunice rolled to an 11-1 win Tuesday over the Leesville Wampus Cats.

Family activities to get kids off the couch

Thanks to increasingly busy weekday schedules that have families running in different directions for work, school and extracurricular activities, weekends are an ideal time to recharge.

Eunice Community Garden Easter activities

Elton Elementary special education students took a special field trip to the Eunice Community Garden on March 28. The students enjoyed a Storytime reading and activities by Eunice librarians.

A cloud cover and occasional rain hindered the eclipse viewing at LSUE on Monday, but there were glimpses of the celestial event.
