The caller of bomb threats to the St. Landry Parish 911 Communication Center identified himself as “Officer Fredrericks,” according to St. Landry Sheriff Sheriff Bobby Guidroz.
The caller stated he was going to blow up the 911 building and the employees needed to leave immediately, Guidroz said.
The caller, who was identified as Rasiem Alexis Fredericks, 25, of the 2900 block of Highway 357, Opelousas, was arrested on Tuesday, Guidroz said in a news release.
The call traced back to Fredericks and it turned out it was not his first call, Guidroz stated.
“While detectives were at the center, Fredericks contacted the center two more times from the same number saying that the center repeatedly called him and even identified himself as Officer Fredericks. Communication call records indicate that no calls were placed to Frederick’s phone from the center. Detectives obtained additional records, which proved the calls were coming from Fredericks,” Guidroz reported.
“Detectives then arrived at the address where the call was traced and located Fredericks. Fredericks was advised of his Miranda Rights prior to providing a statement. Fredericks denied placing the call to 911 emergency services. Fredericks was found to be in possession of a Basile Police Department ID card indentifying him as a police officer. Detectives contacted the police department and were told that he no longer worked there. Fredericks was placed under arrest and processed at the parish jail,” Guidroz stted.
