About 50 people in downtown Eunice were evacuated after a gas leak was discovered at 12: 25 p.m. Monday, according to Fire Chief Chaise Brown.
No injuries were reported due to the leak that also closed about 15 business.
“We had all intersections blocked off, including Walnut, and parts of Park Avenue, and no entry way from Laurel to South 2nd. There was an evacuation in place for those blocks and neighboring blocks were put under a shelter in place order, which means for residents to stay inside,” Brown said.
No through traffic was allowed and fire trucks blocked off streets.
